We weren’t meant to be alone. Connection is central to the human experience. It helps us feel seen, known and valued.
The app provides a safe space for people to gather and grow together.

Joyned (first named CommunityLoop) was founded by Sam Cooke, a successful entrepreneur and software engineer who previously cofounded Mixcloud, an online streaming service that grew to 20 million users.
Brightec was founded in 2006 to build mobile apps for large enterprises, successfully releasing apps for Waterstones, Virgin Trains Ticketing and Google.
In April 2024 Joyned was formed, combining Sam’s start-up knowledge with Brightec’s enterprise experience.
Joyned is a tool intended to grow and strengthen in-person community and Brightec is well-known for building a thriving community for its staff and clients. Joining forces has established a powerful partnership and together we are taking the Joyned app to new heights.
We chose the name Joyned because the word encompasses connectedness. It represents the importance of joining together and conveys the key benefits of the application; to grow and strengthen in-person communities in a safe, secure environment.
Joyned uses the same industry practices as tools like Slack and Teams to keep user data secure. All Joyned data is encrypted in the databases and while being transmitted/received from the mobile app.
However, Joyned is not end-to-end encrypted. This is because end-to-end encryption creates a level of privacy between two people that is not conducive with a community-led tool. It also means that when organisations need access to their data, we can’t provide it.
By encrypting the data itself, Joyned keeps user’s safe and protected within the app. And because it’s not end-to-end encrypted, Joyned can give organisations the data they need when they ask for it.
